Terms of Service
Last updated October 4, 2026
Please read these terms before you book. They explain how bookings, fares, payments, and cancellations work, and the limits of our responsibility.
Who we are
Molasses Taxi & Tours ("we," "us") is a taxi and tour service in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, owned and operated by Janice D. Guishard, a licensed taxi operator. These terms apply when you use this website, book a ride or tour, or pay us. By booking or paying, you agree to these terms.
Bookings
- A booking made on this website is a request. It is confirmed only when Janice confirms it with you by text, call, WhatsApp, or email.
- Please give accurate details: pickup and drop-off, date and time, number of passengers, luggage, and any flight, ferry, or cruise information.
- We may decline, reschedule, or cancel a booking, for example because of weather, road conditions, vehicle issues, or availability. If we cancel a ride you prepaid, we will refund what you paid for that ride.
Fares and charges
- Fares shown on this website are standard rates and estimates, generally per person. They are not a final price.
- The final fare is set at the discretion of Janice D. Guishard and may differ from the estimate because of the number of passengers, luggage, waiting time, late-night or early-morning hours, extra stops, route changes, special requests, holidays or special events, or changes to rates set by the Virgin Islands Taxicab Commission.
- Where possible, Janice will confirm your fare before your ride. If you have questions about a fare, please ask before the ride begins.
- Tips are optional and appreciated.
Payments
- Payment is due at or before the end of your ride unless Janice agrees otherwise.
- Card and PayPal payments are processed by PayPal. We never see or store your full card number. PayPal's own terms also apply to those payments.
- Payments by Venmo, Cash App, ATH Móvil, or Zelle are sent through those services. Please double-check the name before sending. We are not responsible for money sent to the wrong account, and some of these payments cannot be reversed.
- Refunds, when given, are made back to the original payment method where possible.
Cancellations, no-shows, waiting, and refunds
| Booking | Free to cancel | Later than that | No-show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taxi ride or transfer | Up to 2 hours before pickup | Up to 50% of the quoted fare | Up to the full quoted fare |
| Island tour | Up to 24 hours before pickup | Up to 50% of the quoted tour price | Up to the full quoted tour price |
- How to cancel. Use the "Cancel this request" link right after you book, or call, text, or WhatsApp (340) 514-2162. The time we receive your cancellation is the time that counts.
- Late cancellations. If you cancel inside the free window, we may charge a fee of up to the amount shown above, because Janice may already be on the way or have turned down other riders.
- No-shows. A no-show is when you are not at the pickup point within 15 minutes after the confirmed pickup time and we cannot reach you by phone or text, or you cancel after the pickup time.
- Waiting. Waiting follows the official VI Taxicab Commission tariff: the first 5 minutes are free, then $2 per minute.
- Flights, ferries, and cruise ships. Give us your flight, ferry, or ship details. If it is late or cancelled, there is no cancellation or no-show fee. Just text us, and we will move or cancel your pickup at no charge.
- No fee in these cases. We do not charge a cancellation fee for weather, hurricane or storm warnings, road closures, medical or family emergencies, or if we cancel or are more than 15 minutes late.
- We tell you first. We charge a fee only after Janice has confirmed your booking and told you about the fee. Janice may lower or waive any fee.
- Refunds. If you prepaid, we refund what you paid, minus any fee above, to the same payment method (card, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, ATH Móvil, or Zelle) within 5 business days of your cancellation. Your bank or app may take a few more days to show it. Tips on rides that didn't happen are always refunded in full. Cash is refunded in cash or by a payment app you choose.
- If we cancel. If we cancel your ride or tour, you get a full refund, including any tip.
- Disputes. If you think a fee is wrong, contact us first at (340) 514-2162 or molassestaxiandtours@gmail.com, and we will work it out with you.
Flights, ferries, and cruise ships
We do our best to get you where you need to be on time. However, travel times in St. Thomas can change because of traffic, weather, road work, accidents, or cruise-ship days. Please allow plenty of time. We are not responsible for missed flights, ferries, cruise departures, tours, or other connections caused by events outside our control or by late passenger readiness.
Safety and passenger conduct
- Passengers must wear seat belts and follow Virgin Islands law.
- Children must ride in the car seat or booster seat required by law. Please tell us in advance if you need one. Unless we have agreed to provide it, you are responsible for bringing it.
- We may refuse or end a ride if a passenger is unsafe, abusive, or breaking the law. In that case, the fare for the distance already traveled may still be due.
- Passengers are responsible for damage to the vehicle they cause, including cleaning charges for spills or sickness.
Luggage and personal belongings
Please keep your belongings with you and check the vehicle before leaving. If you leave something behind, contact us and we will try to help you get it back, but we are not responsible for lost, forgotten, or damaged items, except as required by law.
Island tours
Tour stops, times, and routes may change because of weather, traffic, closures, or safety. Entry fees, food, drinks, and activities are not included unless we tell you they are.
Limits of our responsibility
- To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as missed connections, lost bookings, lost earnings, or extra travel costs.
- To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total responsibility for any claim related to a ride or tour is limited to the amount you paid for that ride or tour.
- Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that cannot be limited under the law of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or cancellations caused by events outside our reasonable control, including hurricanes, storms, flooding, road closures, power or phone outages, government orders, or emergencies.
This website
We try to keep the information on this website accurate, including fares, places, and island tips, but it may change without notice and is provided as is. Address suggestions come from a public map service and may not always be exact. Links to other services, such as PayPal, Venmo, WhatsApp, and Google Maps, are run by those companies under their own terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version posted on this page when you book applies to that booking.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States Virgin Islands.
